Christies Education
Harris Experience
Christie’s Education
By Idris Shaikh
Founded in London in 1978, Christie’s Education is a specialist provider of postgraduate and undergraduate courses on art history, art business and curating, amongst others.
The Harris Experience program has been partnered with Christie’s for some time now, and I get the impression that, for the years that this partnership has been on-going, all of the Harris Experience students have greatly enjoyed the three-stage program. I myself have only been on the first of three visits to one Christie’s branch, the Christie’s Education art collage at 153 Great Titchfield Street, and received a highly interactive oration from one of the lecturers at the college. We were informed and shown methods of pricing, recognising, and analysing the meaning of different pieces of art, and also handled and described some sculptures, tiles and chinaware, and were told about the history of these items.
All in all, the trip was one that proved highly informative and enjoyable, and all that participated were able to take away valuable and possibly little-known knowledge that is sure to be carried out throughout the Harris Experience program.
