Chobham Academy Celebrates First Ever GCSE Results

Chobham Academy Celebrates First Ever GCSE Results

Students at Chobham Academy are celebrating today after collecting the academy’s first ever GCSE results.

The academy opened as a brand new school in 2013 and was rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted in 2015. It is now full in every year group from reception to sixth form.

Overall, a strong 69% of students achieved A*-C grades in English and maths.

This year, the government has introduced a new performance measure called Progress 8 which indicates the progress made by students in secondary school across eight key subjects. Based on 2015 national averages, Chobham’s score is likely to be 0.59. The national average is always set to 0, and a score of 0.5 or above is deemed by Ofsted to be outstanding.

Some of the academy’s top performing students were:

  • Muhammad Beg 9A* 2A
  • Elyas Abaris 6A* 4A 2B
  • Faiza Abdi 5A* 6A 1B
  • Naina Karavadra 5A* 5A 2B
  • Justine Franco-Okedigun 5A* 4A 2B

Rebecca Hickey, Executive Principal of Chobham Academy, said:

“This academy started from scratch and these students, who have been with us for just three years, have earned a highly impressive first set of GCSE results for themselves and their academy. Along with our staff they have worked incredibly hard and deserve this success. I look forward to seeing them in our flourishing sixth form in September.”

28% of students achieved the government’s challenging Ebacc measure. This is higher than last year’s national average of 23%.
