A-Level Drama at Chobham Academy has been one of the most rewarding and fulfilling experiences I have experienced. This course gave us the time and space to explore theatre, as an actor, a director and audience member. The teachers are incredibly supportive and provide us with the best teaching possible to ensure we are fully equipped to move on to the next stage of our lives. We also had so many opportunities to learn beyond the classroom, by visiting more than 20 theatre shows over the two years and having a range of in-house workshops and practitioner visits. This not only help us with the course, but also exposed us to many opportunities that highlight how rewarding a career in drama can be. Overall, this is one of the most well-rounded courses that acts as a balance to what can be the challenging two years in sixth form.

Picking A-Level Drama has been one of the best decisions in my academic years, especially studying it at Chobham Academy. I’m able to consistently express my imagination and ideas through theatre, with the full support of the drama department staff and incredible facilities provided. The teachers are reassuring and friendly, their passion is evident in their teaching and they motivate us to excel beyond the classroom. Studying Drama at Chobham has also created many opportunities outside the classroom; in my first year, I visited more than 10 theatre productions, evaluating the different career pathways that are available from the skills earned by this course. Studying A-level drama at Harris Academy Chobham has been such an enriching experience. The A-Level course has provided a space to expand my knowledge of theatre and the many ways theatre makers convey a message to an audience. I have learnt how to explore theatre in four ways: as a director, as an actor, as a designer and as an audience member. Our teachers put in so much effort to ensure that we understand each assignment and task to help and guide us towards our goal and achieve the highest grades possible. Their expert teaching provides us with an atmosphere to learn as a team inside and outside of the classroom. They give detailed and personal feedback which encourages and motivates us to improve our work, whilst also building character through their constructive criticism. A-Level drama is the most enjoyable course I am studying. It is a course that challenges you and acts as a balance between some of the other intense subjects you may study.
